You wake one morning to discover you are the last human on earth. All of your needs are met. Utilities and transportation options still function. Animals exist and you only have to care for the ones you choose to.
It is up to you to decide how you are going to spend your last year on your own. What do you want to see, do, learn, or leave behind? How will you grieve and sustain yourself?
Over the course of a year, we will host weekly conversations with invited guests of various backgrounds. We will explore existential questions and themes about:
You are encouraged to join us in the Community Forum to ask questions and share your own thoughts and answers.
The goal is to know yourself better through considering this scenario and through hearing what others would do.
These conversations seek to reveal truths of the human condition and individual essential truths told through story. Your stories.
I’ve always been curious about people, and I love getting to know others through better understanding their motivations, values, conflicts, loves, and fears. I am not alone in this.
Philosophers have pondered and written about human nature, the meaning of life, our origins and purpose for millennia. Modern day thought leaders, activists, artists, and others dedicate themselves to these questions, and yet, in the course of our busy lives, we sometimes find we don’t have the time or space to stop and think about these bigger questions.
With the Last as Last Podcast, I want to create space and some structure to entertain these conversations and use them to enhance our current lives and live more intentionally and gratefully.
In my day-to-day life, I am a trauma counselor specializing in helping folks heal from complicated and abusive relationships with partners, parents, friends, and colleagues.
I live with my wonderful husband, 3 cats, several dozen plants (most of which I have been able to keep alive), and awesome teenage stepkid (of whom we have shared custody).
